In Germany, a pensioner is tried for keeping a Panther tank in the basement of a house

The authorities want to fine him, and a museum from the United States is interested in military equipment. In 2015, a Panther tank, an anti-aircraft gun, a torpedo and other weapons from the Second World War were found in the house of a pensioner from Heikendorf.

The house was initially searched for illegally acquired Reich artworks. It took 20 soldiers almost nine hours to retrieve and load the tank without tracks from the basement of an apartment building. So, what were the chances of an 84-year old man getting the tank out of his cellar, putting tracks on it, loading its guns and turning them on Merkel’s rathaus? Hitler would have laughed until the tears rolled from his eyes. Not today’s humourless Germans.

But when it comes to bizarre behaviour the response by the Washington Occupied Germany (WOG) is even weirder. If this incident had happened anywhere else including Absurdistan (Britain) the extremely old man would have appeared on TV chat shows and Press; people would have laughed and saluted ‘well done, that man’.

Not in Merkel’s Krautistan: According to Die Welt, now in Germany they are discussing what to do with the 84-year-old defendant. Attempts are being made to determine whether the pensioner violated the German law on the control of military weapons. Prosecutors and defence lawyers are discussing possible punishments, including a suspended sentence and a fine of up to €500,000. This is not a misprint: they’re trying to get him to pay a fine of half a million Euros.

According to the defence, a museum from the United States became interested in the tank, and a collector from Germany was interested in an 8.8 cm anti-aircraft gun. The defence claims that the guns are no longer functional and the tank was bought for scrap. Lawyers demand that the pensioner be reduced the amount of the fine to €50,000 but the prosecutor’s office insists on the opposite and believes that some weapons can still be used for their intended purpose. The court is expected to rule in August. Recently, an accident, unusual for most motorists, happened in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. There, at the entrance to the city, a tank fell on the highway.
