The leader of Spain’s surging national right-wing populist party Vox, which is now a king-making major force in Spanish politics in recent years, has slammed the practice of kneeling before football games in support of the radical left-wing Black Lives Matter movement which is invariably threateningly anti-ethnic European.

‘Disguised as a gesture against racism, some insist on bringing nations to their knees, we are seeing it in sport’ said Santiago Abascal on Monday evening. ’Spain should not kneel before those who insult our history and the legacy of a nation that never looked for the colour of its skin.’

The comments preceded Spain’s opening 0-0 draw against Sweden, with both teams eventually refusing to take part in the divisive political gesture of kneeling before the match.
Abascal’s position echoes that of maverick Hungarian nationalist PM Viktor Orban, who recently called kneeling a provocation as he strongly backed fans who booed the left-wing virtue signalling gesture.

‘This kneeling business. I don’t think this has any place on the pitch. Sport is about other things said Orban, who also insisted that Hungarian athletes should ‘fight standing up’.
Their tough stance on the gesture stands in stark contrast to the debate in the UK, where out of touch mainstream media and major politicians, including Keir Starmer and Boris Johnson, have called on fans not to make their own voices heard by booing the hated pre-game ritual.

The FA itself imperiously told fans not to boo and insisted the gesture was not ‘aligned to a political organisation or ideology’, – despite this website uncovering footage of the English squad’s own captain Harry Kane openly linking it to Black Lives Matter. Source
