The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is investigating cases of myocarditis, that is, inflammation of the heart muscle, after being vaccinated against a new type of coronavirus. It is reported by the New York Times with reference to the CDC advisory group.

According to the department, rare cases of myocarditis were recorded in young people and adolescents a few days after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. At the same time, experts note that inflammation may not be associated with vaccination and, as a rule, is mild.

‘It may just be a coincidence that some people develop myocarditis after being vaccinated,’ said infectious disease specialist Celine Gunder.

Although it is far too early to analyse risk factors, the menace of myocarditis, even confirmed to be associated with COVID-19 vaccination, is claimed to be lower than the ‘dangers they claim are associated with infection with coronavirus’.
