SWANSEA, WALES: ‘At another point, a police van was confronted by several men, who kicked it and pelted it with projectiles, forcing it to retreat.’
The knee-jerk response by the police to a mass breaking of lockdown shackles was to ‘robustly deal’ with rioters, should they return for a second day of violence in Swansea. Government Officials mildly inconvenienced by the repression whilst keeping their jobs and high salaries branded the public disturbance ‘appalling’ and ‘completely unacceptable’.
The unexpected spree of violence in the Mayhill area of the coastal city erupted on Thursday evening at around 8:00 pm. Officers brought the situation under control in the early hours of Friday morning. An estimated 300 or more people were involved in the riot, which left vehicles destroyed by fire and houses damaged.
Videos shot at the scene showed people vandalising a car before rolling it down a steep street toward a vehicle on fire further down the hill, as others filmed and cheered. At another point, a police van was confronted by several men, who kicked it and pelted it with projectiles, forcing it to retreat.
A number of residents were trapped in their houses as the rioting took place outside. Many said the police failed to protect them from the dangerous crowd, criticizing what they described as an underwhelming response.
‘If those involved choose to return and further threaten public safety, they will be robustly dealt with,’ she added, pledging to investigate the crimes committed. The police asked members of the community to share any photo and video evidence they might have to help ’identify and arrest those responsible.’
Frustrated victims of government repression were scathing as to the causes of the revolt. John Lightfoot, correspondent writes: ‘The majority of people are happy to stick to lockdown rules as long as the rules make sense, but when you are told you cannot drive to a location and then go for a walk for exercise but you can drive a similar distance to get a takeaway then you start to lose faith in the system.
‘It was safer to go to a supermarket with hundreds of people but not to independent shops that were closed allegedly to stop infections. Curfews because obviously, Covid sneaks around in the dark, border control meaning that for a lot a trip to a supermarket for food thee distance travelled was hugely increased.
‘None of the above decisions made sense at all which increased frustration and is now causing a lot of problems.’
He adds: ‘It was the same all over Europe with a notable exception of Madrid that refused to comply and kept all businesses open with sensible rules. I could never see the point in closing small shops and it has caused more damage than anyone realises. Fine for the governments to say ‘don’t worry, we will pay you compensation, while they are closed people just shopped online and may never return so it will end up as a permanent loss.
The police were mocked for their inept response and their cowardice with correspondent Andrew Smith speaking for many others:
‘A total fail for Swansea Police. No doubt they are so used to safe enquiries like trawling through social media to try and find fault with some politically incorrect postings that they just fold up when faced with real street crime. Of course, if it had been an anti-lockdown peaceful demonstration, out would come the truncheons and assaults on innocent civilians.’
On Twitter: What do the ‘powers that be’ expect? 15 months of a fake virus, MSM and government spreading misinformation, population locked down for no reason, communities destroyed, local businesses destroyed. I have sympathy for these rioters. Their future has been sold down the river.’
Another tweet: ‘The police have no problem battering women legally protesting. Wonder why they weren’t able to attack these mostly children. They normally do.’ A comment picked up makes its point. ‘This is just the beginning. A mere whisper of what is to come.’ Think your friends would be interested? Share this story!
