29 State Cops Injured in anti-Regime protests

A string of violent anti-regime protests in Berlin against a parliamentary vote on a bill that will give the Washington DC approved chancellor more powers to toughen coronavirus rules left 29 officers hurt and hundreds of people detained.

Berlin police published updated figures from Wednesday’s protests, estimating that 231 people were detained for violating virus-related restrictions. A hundred people face charges, including for the crimes of resisting arrest and attacking police officers.

‘During the police deployment 29 personnel were injured, a police officer had to end the shift prematurely,’ the police department said in a statement released Thursday.

However, there is very little public sympathy or support for state-sponsored police officers anywhere in Europe. A top politician in Finland described the cops as ‘worse than an army of occupation’.  It is no exaggeration as throughout German Occupied Europe (1940-1945) life went on as normal for the ordinary people, who got on well with German troops.

The iconic singer Edith Piaf, dubbed the Little Sparrow, famously protected German troops during their departure from Paris; an action that saved the lives of many German soldiers.

The Merkel regimes controversial bill, which proposes an ‘emergency brake’ for areas with high COVID-19 infection rates, was narrowly passed by both chambers of the federal parliament and signed by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. It will become law in the coming days.
