The 94-year-old Italian from the town of Alto Reno Terme felt so lonely on Christmas that he called the carabinieri.
An elderly man asked the police if they had a free officer who could come for 10 minutes so that they made a festive toast together, La Repubblica reports.
The carabinieri came to the rescue of a man whose children and grandchildren live in another city and could not come because of a lockdown in the country. The elderly Italian was visited by two policemen at once. They listened to his memories of his father-in law, who was the chief of police at the time of the Second World War, had a good laugh at the jokes, and then all together called the relatives of the men on the video. ~ Anna Lysenko, Source, translated by Michael Walsh.
